Information About the Liver Transplant Unit

The Liver Transplant Unit, which operates under the Ondokuz Mayıs University Health Application and Research Center, has been accepting patients since April 2011. The unit evaluates liver transplant candidates for both pediatric and adult patients and provides services every weekday from 09:00 to 16:00.

Who Are the Candidates for Liver Transplantation?

Liver transplantation is performed on patients with advanced liver disease. Eligibility assessments are made for both adult and pediatric patients:

For Adult Patients:

  • Cirrhosis due to Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or alcohol
  • Liver tumors
  • Wilson's disease
  • Acute liver failure (due to mushroom or drug poisoning, etc.)

For Pediatric Patients:

Liver Transplant Process and Requirements

  • Fluid accumulation in the abdomen
